In July, Disney+ announced a new Italian original series “The Lions of Sicily '', which has been filmed
filmed in Rome and Sicily.
This family saga, from the bestseller of the same name by Stefania Auci, is directed by Paolo Genovese, who
is also the creative director.
The series, in 8 episodes, is produced by Francesco and Federico Scardamaglia for Compagnia Leone
Cinematografica, and by Raffaella Leone and Marco Belardi for Lotus Production. The screenplay was written by
Ludovica Rampoldi and Stefano Sardo

The Lions of Sicily is the gripping story of the Florio family. Paolo and Ignazio are brothers, humble
spice sellers who escaped life in Calabria, still firmly anchored in the past, in search for social freedom. they
create a future for themselves in Sicily where, starting with a run-down shop, they create a flourishing business
that Paolo’s young son Vincenzo, with his revolutionary ideas, will end up transforming into an
empire. However the lives of Vincenzo and his family are sent into turmoil by the arrival of the explosive
explosive Giulia, a strong and intelligent woman, quite a contrast to the rigid rules of the time. The
The Lions of Sicily is a saga about love, family, success, war and revolution which takes place
in 19th century Sicily up to the unification of Italy in 1861.

The series stars Michele Riondino as Vincenzo Florio, Miriam Leone as
as Giulia Portalupi, Donatella Finocchiaro as Giuseppina, Vinicio Marchioni as
as Paolo Florio, Eduardo Scarpetta as Ignazio Florio (Vincenzo’s son), Paolo Briguglia as
Ignazio Florio, Ester Pantano as the young Giuseppina and Adele Cammarata as
Giovanna D’Ondes.
