The story opens during the 1990 Fifa World Cup (also known as Italia ’90), the night when the Italian football team loses the playoffs at the penalties against Argentina. A well-known film producer is found dead in the waters of the Tiber. The main suspects are three young aspiring screenwriters, called to the Police station to tell their version of the story.

Magical Nights is the story of their emotional journey among the splendor and miseries of the final glorious season of Italian cinema.
